Protection Plans
Protection plans offer additional protection for your device, including accidental damage coverage.
We fix thousands of devices every year, and the majority of them are covered by a warranty plan, offering peace-of-mind for many students, faculty & staff.
Pricing depends on the plan, cost of the device, and length of coverage. See available plans below.
Dell and Apple both offer manufacturer limited warranty for the first year of owning the device. The manufacturer limited warranty covers any manufacturer defect, which does not include any accidental damage (ie. water damage).
If your device is covered under manufacturer limited warranty you may have it serviced at the Tech Hub.
Accidental damage (drops, liquid spills, screen cracks, etc.) is not covered by limited warranty.
Manufacturer defects (hard drive failures, bad motherboard, etc.) are covered by limited warranty.
Battery consumption is not covered by limited warranty.
Cosmetic damage (dents, scratches, etc.) is not covered by limited warranty.
Lost/stolen devices are not covered by limited warranty.

Tech Hub sells AppleCare+ for eligible Apple devices and can repair qualifying devices covered under AppleCare+ that are purchased elsewhere.
Accidental damage (drops, liquid spills, screen cracks, etc.) is covered by AppleCare+.
Manufacturer defects (hard drive failures, bad motherboard, etc.) are covered by AppleCare+.
Battery consumption is covered by AppleCare+.
Cosmetic damage (dents, scratches, etc.) is not covered by AppleCare+.

Every iPad comes with a one-year limited warranty and 90 days of technical support. AppleCare+ for iPad extends your coverage from your AppleCare+ purchase date and includes unlimited incidents of accidental damage protection, each subject to a service fee plus applicable tax.* In addition, you’ll get 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone.
For all 11-inch iPad Pro (M4), 13-inch iPad Pro (M4), 11-inch iPad Air (M2), and 13-inch iPad Air (M2) models the service fee is $29 for screen repair and $99 for all other accidental damage. The service fee for accidental damage to all other iPad models is $49. The screen repair service fee is only available on 11-inch iPad Pro (M4), 13-inch iPad Pro (M4), 11-inch iPad Air (M2), and 13-inch iPad Air (M2) iPad models and when there is no other damage present. The service fee for Apple Pencil or Apple-branded iPad keyboard is $29.

As of summer 2024, every current generation Dell laptop sold by Tech Hub automatically comes with a 4-year Dell ProSupport Plus protection plan.
Accidental damage (drops, liquid spills, screen cracks, etc.) is covered by ProSupport Plus.
Manufacturer defects (hard drive failures, bad motherboard, etc.) are covered by ProSupport Plus.
Battery consumption is not covered by ProSupport Plus.
Cosmetic damage (dents, scratches, etc.) is not covered by ProSupport Plus.
Lost/stolen devices are not covered by ProSupport Plus.
There is a limit of one (1) qualifying incident per contract year of the plan. For example, if you buy the device with ProSupport Plus July 1, 2024, your first year of the plan goes from July 1 to June 30, 2025. There is no rollover if you do not utilize your repair from one year to the next.

The repair process normally takes 5-7 business days.
If you can not come to Tech Hub to get your computer fixed and have Dell ProSupport Plus, you have several options:
- You can contact Tech Hub to have the computer shipped and repaired here.
- You can find a nearby authorized Dell repair center.
- You can contact Dell Support to arrange for a technician to be sent to your location.
Tech Hub partners with Safeware to provide comprehensive coverage to Ohio State students, faculty, and staff.
Accidental damage (drops, liquid spills, screen cracks, etc.) is covered by the Tech Hub Protection Plan.
Manufacturer defects (hard drive failures, bad motherboard, etc.) are covered by the Tech Hub Protection Plan.
Battery consumption is not covered by the Tech Hub Protection Plan.
Cosmetic damage (dents, scratches, etc.) is not covered by the Tech Hub Protection Plan.
Lost/stolen devices are not covered by the Tech Hub Protection Plan.
The price of the Tech Hub Protection Plan is determined by the cost of the device.
2 Year Coverage:

4 Year Coverage:

There is no repair incident limit. The only limits to the coverage are the term (4 years or 2 years), and the purchase value of the computer. If you bought a $1500 computer, and needed 4 repairs done that totalled $1400 in cost, you won’t need to pay a dime for any of them. If you then needed a 5th repair that costs $150, you would be responsible for $50 of that repair cost, while the Plan covers $100, and your Plan will have been exhausted at that point.
The repair process normally takes 5-7 business days. This is for routine repairs such as a broken LCD screen. However, for repairs that we do not fix in-house, please allow for 10-14 business days to have your computer fixed.
If you can not come to Tech Hub to get your computer fixed and have the Tech Hub Protection Plan, you have several options:
- You can contact Tech Hub to have the computer shipped and repaired here.
- You can find a nearby authorized Safeware repair center. Contact Safeware to find the nearest location.
- You can take your computer to a repair center that is authorized to fix your brand of computer but may not be a Safeware partner. In this case, you will need to pay the repair center with your own funds, and file a claim with Safeware for reimbursement.
