As the flowers bloom and the semester winds down, Tech Hub, the official technology store of The Ohio State University, is kicking off its second annual Spring Cleaning Event—the perfect time to refresh your tech setup. This year, we've expanded to the entire month!
During April 2026, students, faculty, and staff are invited to drop off their old tablets and laptops for recycling. In return, Tech Hub will provide a discount on a new device. Whether your gear is gently used or beyond repair, just drop it off and we’ll take care of the rest.
Any trade-in, in any condition, earns the following discounts off the purchase of a new device:
- Replacement device price is $499 or below, discount is $25
- Replacement device price is $500 to $1499, discount is $50
- Replacement device price is $1500 or more, discount is $100
Ask about additional discounts on our newly discontinued devices! (We have some spring cleaning to do of our own.)
Trade in discounts are on top of our already low, academically reduced prices on items such as Apple’s new iPad Air® and MacBook Air® models. So if you’re ready to tidy up your tech life and score a great deal, swing by Tech Hub during the Spring Cleaning Event.
Not in the market for an upgrade? No worries! We’ll still recycle any old devices you may have during this month-long event.
Please note: Tech Hub is not responsible for secure disposal of data storage devices. If your electronics have sensitive information on their hard drives, that is solely your responsibility. Tech Hub does not offer data recovery or “keep your hard drive” services. Recycling is available for personal devices only. Institutional devices will not be accepted. Only laptops and tablets will qualify you for a discount on a new device.
